Artificial turf crews can cope with stifling heat at the tennis job at Rec Park

Workers are putting the finishing touches to the tennis complex being built in Recreation Park on the West Side of Binghamton.

The crews of a Syracuse-based Astroturf Corporation unit applied acrylic paint to the surface of the new tennis courts. When they were working on Monday afternoon, they encountered a heat index of nearly 100 degrees.

Another layer of acrylic paint should be applied before starting the paint and field markings.

The work on the surface of the dishes should be completed in a few weeks.

The tennis facility is named after 16-year-old Harper Stantz. The Binghamton High School student had been playing tennis with a friend in the park in March 2019, shortly before she was hit by a vehicle on the way home. She died as a result of her injuries.

The towns had a population of 10,000 to 150,000, but at least one local beach had to be listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. We have selected the top 50 from these rankings. Readers who live in California and Florida will not be surprised that many of the cities featured here are in either of these two states.
