Thames Valley Police are seeking witnesses or videotaping to help investigate a sexual assault.

Authorities said a woman was raped on the side of the road around midnight on August 16. Detective Inspector Alice Broad said the victim told investigators she was driving on the A4 when she noticed a child car seat near the road.

She stopped her car because she feared there was a child in the seat. Authorities say the seat was empty.

The investigators assume that the victim did not know their attacker. They are still trying to understand the importance of the car seat and whether it is related to the crime.

“We appeal to anyone who has footage or information to get in touch,” said Broad. “No matter how insignificant your information may be, please pass it on to the police or anonymously to Crimestoppers.”

Specifically, the police are looking for evidence from the A4 in Thatcham between August 15, 11:00 p.m. and August 16, 12:15 p.m.

In the meantime, anyone affected by anything they see on the side of the road is advised to write down the exact location and contact the police.

The authorities have committed to increasing their presence in the region. Broad wanted to reassure the public that attacks like this are rare.

“This is a worrying incident and one that has understandably caused concern in the local community. However, such crimes are extremely rare and a thorough investigation is carried out to identify the perpetrator, â€said Broad.

This story was reported from Atlanta.
