Russia is the first to apply to host World Expo 2030 – Business & Economy

PARIS, April 29th. / TASS /. According to the office, the International Exhibition Bureau received an application from Russia on Thursday to host the world exhibition “Expo-2030” in Moscow.

After this period, the office will evaluate each project, after which the winner will be determined by the outcome of a vote involving 169 countries participating in the BIE. The organization notes that Russia is “an active state participant in the BIE” and regularly participates in world and professional exhibitions. “Your participation has repeatedly received awards, including at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai and Expo 2015 in Milan,” said the office’s press service.

World Universal Exhibitions have been held since 1851 and are the largest global platform for showcasing the latest achievements and technologies.

As the representative of the office told TASS, there is no rotation between the continents, the only restriction being that exhibitions cannot take place in the same country more than every 15 years. The last time the Expo 2015 took place in Milan. The exhibition in Dubai (UAE) was planned for 2020, but was postponed to October 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2025, Osaka, Japan, is preparing to host the international event.
