AS Tallink Grupp: Joonas Maunula becomes the new Creative Head of the Tallink fleet

Joonas Maunula becomes the new creative head of Tallink’s fleet

This is what Tallink Grupp announced Joona’s Maulula has been appointed as Creative Head Chief of the Tallink Grupp fleet and will work in this capacity from today.

Joonas Maunula first joined Tallink Grupp’s Food and Beverage team in 2011. Over the years he has worked as part of the culinary team on several Tallink Grupp cruise ships including Silja Europa, Baltic Princess, Silja Serenade and until his new appointment as Executive Chef since 2018 aboard the company ship Galaxy.

Commenting on the appointment of Tallink’s new Fleet Creative Head, Mark MakkeFood & Beverage Director of Tallink Grupp, said:

– “Good dining experiences are one of the main reasons why many of our customers come on board to enjoy a holiday at sea. As time goes by, our customers’ preferences and tastes change too. Foodies experience unforgettable taste experiences and food journeys when dining at our onboard restaurants to keep up with, and even stay ahead of, the latest culinary trends.

– As such, we are delighted to welcome Joonas to his new group-wide role, as he takes the helm at the helm of our culinary fleet from our legendary and long-serving Executive Chef Anti Lepik, who after 24 years of service has decided to take on new professional challenges from the end of November. We are immensely grateful to Anti for his dedication, passion for excellence and massive contribution to the development of Tallink’s Food & Beverage business.

– I am sure that Joonas’ high level of professionalism, experience and creativity will bring new and exciting synergies to our food and beverage space and take our culinary experiences to new horizons and maintain and further develop our culinary excellence at the Baltic Sea.”

The tasks of the group-wide creative chef include the development of novel and sustainable food concepts and menus, menu planning at fleet level, working closely with the group concept manager and the chefs of the company’s galley teams, as well as working closely with suppliers and as a link between Tallink Grupp’s suppliers and the company’s purchasing department. Responsibilities also include leading innovation, quality and image management across the fleet’s kitchen team, as well as organizing various training courses and other internal and external events necessary to achieve these goals.

Commenting on his appointment, Creative Head Chief of Tallink Grupp, Joona’s Maululasaid:

– “I am honored and honored to take on new challenges at Tallink Grupp. After many years of sailing on various Tallink and Silja Line vessels as part of the culinary team, it has been a great journey that has now taken a new direction.”

Joonas Maunula holds a Professional Degree in Catering from Pargas Yrkesskola in Turku, Finland (2002) and a Management Degree from the Finnish Institute of Marketing in Helsinki (2017).
