From autumn 2022, LIQUIND will obtain bio-LNG 24/7 from a new liquefaction plant of EnviTec Biogas AG in Güstrow and distribute the renewable fuel to customers via its filling stations in Germany.

Lohne / Berlin, June 7th, 2021: Liquind 24/7 and EnviTec Biogas have signed a contract for the sale of bio-LNG. The bio-LNG is produced in a new liquefaction plant that EnviTec is building in Güstrow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. LIQUIND organizes the transport and distribution of bio-LNG to heavy-duty customers at its truck filling stations.

EnviTec already operates a biogas production and processing plant at the Güstrow site, which will use processed biomethane for liquefaction from autumn 2022. Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas, is pleased about the cooperation agreement: ‘We are not only developing a new business area, but we are doing pioneering work for the transition to more sustainable transport in Germany. Compared to oil-based fuels, the use of bio-LNG has considerable potential for reducing GHG emissions in the transport sector. In addition, there is a well-functioning infrastructure for the distribution of bio-LNG, while the widespread use of electromobility and hydrogen alternatives requires extensive development. Until these alternatives are up and running, precious time is wasted. The established CNG and LNG filling station infrastructure can and must provide a remedy. Together with LIQUIND as a partner for the marketing of the fuel at filling stations, we can make a significant contribution to the decarbonization of heavy traffic. ‘

For LIQUIND, the project is a decisive milestone and part of the company’s future strategy. By 2025, all LNG sold at the company’s gas stations is expected to come from renewable sources. LIQUIND has announced that it will reduce CO2 emissions by up to 100 percent compared to conventional diesel fuel. Christian Schneider, Managing Director of LIQUIND, comments: ‘We are pleased about the start of this cooperation on this important matter and underline our commitment to building a sustainable fuel infrastructure in Germany. The bio-LNG from this and other projects enables our customers to operate their vehicles even more sustainably and at the same time benefit from consistently high quality and security of supply. ‘
