Jeffree Lynn Steininger Jr. was born on November 15, 1985 in Los Angeles County, California and grew up in Orange County, California. He states that in junior high he persuaded his mother to allow him to wear her cosmetics to school after years of experimenting with them as a child.
Star attended Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California and graduated in 2002. After high school, he changed his name to Jeffree Star and worked as a makeup artist, model, and even a musician.

Star’s MySpace profile was soon filled with a significant number of fans who had previously followed him on other social networking sites due to his huge online presence.
