Polish Maritime Administration confirms arrest of a Russian ship in the Baltic Sea world

WARSAW, December 5th. / TASS /. The Polish Maritime Administration in Gdynia has confirmed that a Russian dry cargo ship has been arrested in the Gdansk Bay of the Baltic Sea.

“The ship is currently at anchor. An inspector from the State Port Inspectorate of the Maritime Administration in Gdynia and officers from the border service inspected the ship. A note was made about the arrest of the ship. The police were informed of the incident. â€â€œ It was said on Sunday.

According to the shipping authority, the incident occurred on the night of December 3rd to 4th. A ship under the Russian flag sailing from Klaipeda to Gdansk left the designated waterway and did not respond to calls. The answer followed the calls from the port’s captain.

The office said it had informed the maritime administration of the incident and dispatched a sea rescue unit. After a while the contact with the ship was established and it was directed to the birth of the northern port of Gdańsk.

Coast guards inspected the ship and found that three crew members, including the captain, were drunk.

The specialized portal morski.pl reported earlier that day that Polish border guards arrested the Russian freighter Ruslana in the GdaÅ„sk Bay in the Baltic Sea on Saturday. According to him, the ship of a St. Petersburg transport company went “at a speed of 11 knots directly towards a beach on the island of Sobieszewo <…> outside the assigned waterway “.
