51-year-old man charged with 1st degree murder in Coal Harbor shootings
Francois Joseph Gauthier will remain in custody until his next appearance in court
A 51-year-old man is accused of shooting and killing a man in Coal Harbor last weekend.
Police responded to shots fired outside Cardero’s restaurant at around 8:30 p.m. on April 17, Const said. Tania Visintin.
Harpreet Singh Dhaliwal, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders failed to resuscitate him.
“It happened in a busy place on a fine evening and an innocent person could have been injured, Visintin said.
Francois Joseph Gauthier is charged with first degree murder and possession of a loaded, restricted firearm without an authorized license.
Gauthier remains in custody until his next appearance in court.
The murder marks Vancouver’s fifth murder in 2021.
