“I am honored to be part of this international cohort and to represent the United States and Florida,” Eskamani said in a press release from her office. “There are many lessons we can learn from our transatlantic partners and ideas we can share. When it comes to climate and energy issues, these challenges are global in scale and I can’t wait to find solutions together with my American and European colleagues.”

Against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first round of exchanges extended over two years, from 2020 to 2021. In addition to addressing broader issues in transatlantic relations, the first cohort focused on the core topic of digitization.

The project is funded by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection.

Eskamani has sponsored numerous climate and renewable energy bills during her two terms in office, although not with much success. At the last meeting, their State Renewable Energy Goals Bill (HB81) and rights of the natural environment (HB6003) died in committees.
