Meet dogs from the NFL, including Patrick Mahomes’ pit bull, JJ Watt’s golden retriever and Brady’s adorable rescue beagle
LIFE in the NFL can certainly be old business.
Players will showcase their athletic achievements week after week throughout a grueling season, with a shot at Super Bowl glory as the ultimate prize.
And NFL stars turn to a man’s best friend when they need to kick back and relax after games.
From Pit Bulls to Pomeranian’s, here are the fellows your favorite stars call part of the family.
Patrick Mahomes – Pitbull and Cane Corso
Mahomes and his new wife Brittany have been together since high school, with the Kansas City QB being a committed dog dad.
The couple own a pit bull named Steel and a cane corso named Silver, with the pooches stars of their own viral Instagram page.
Her exploits are followed by over 215,000 people, with the account including family portraits and the Chief’s gear donned by the dog.
And Mahomes is open about his love for misunderstood pit bulls, which he says often get a bad rap.
He said: [Steel] is the cutest puppy. i hate how [Pit Bulls] be stereotyped as aggressive. Any dog can be aggressive, that’s basically how they’re raised.
“Me and Steel are exactly the same person except he’s a dog.”
JJ Watt – Goldendoodle and Golden Retriever
Weighing nearly 300 pounds on the scales, it turns out that Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt is a softie at heart.
Along with soccer star Kealia’s wife, the former Texan owns a pair of stunning golden dogs.
Then puppies Tex and Finley were introduced to the world after JJ won the 2018 Divisional Championship.
But Watt may have bitten off a little more than he can chew with the energetic duo.
He wrote on Twitter in June 2019: “Dogs have taken full control of the house. Your reach knows no bounds. kitchen, living room, bedroom, upstairs.
“It won’t be long before they ask us to move into the garage. We lost the fight.”
Justin Fields – French bulldog
One of the NFL’s newest stars, Fields had a solid rookie season for the Chicago Bears last season.
And he doesn’t attribute his success to long hours in the gym or a high-protein vegan diet.
No – it’s all thanks to his pup, Uno.
Another social media star, the French bulldog, has nearly 60,000 followers on Instagram and has been described by Fields as his “best friend” after helping him weather the pandemic.
The Bears play-caller said: “He’s definitely a big part of my life.
“[The reason he’s called Uno is] because I wear No1.”
Russell Wilson – Great Danes
Big players have to come up with big plays.
And in the case of Russel Wilson, the new Denver Broncos quarterback seems to have taken that literally.
The former Seahawk is the owner of THREE giant Great Danes named Prince, Naomi and Hero.
In Seattle, Wilson certainly had the right room for her in a stunning 10,740 square foot mansion.
But his trusty trio are used to traveling and Wilson reveals he regularly takes them with him throughout the season.
He said: “It’s always fun just putting three giant mastiffs on the road.
“The best thing about having dogs is that they welcome you every time you come home. They are the most amazing dogs in the world.”
Travis Kelce – Goldendoodle and Pomsky
Back to the kingdom of the Chiefs and Travis Kelce’s adorable duo Rambo and Chauncey.
A Goldendoodle/Pomeranian-Husky mix, the Kansas City tight-end takes his two dogs with him wherever he goes.
Whether it’s running through the Hollywood Hills or out with the Chiefs, Kelce tries to keep the couple by his side.
And if you ever see a 6-foot-5, 260-pound man playing fetch with two puppies in the park, it’s likely to be touchdown machine Zeus.
He revealed: “I love going to dog parks. You know, usually I’m the one who takes them out to a big, open field to play fetch with them.
“I have a lot of friends on the team who have dogs and of course we love letting the puppies hang out with each other.
“And then I mostly travel with them.”
Tom Brady – Pitbull, Beagle and Cross
The GOAT is back with the Bucs for next season after flipping his shock retirement plans.
So Brady’s four-legged friends at home will have to wait a little longer to spend more time with the NFL’s greatest quarterback of all time.
It’s a good job Brady is investing in a brand new Mesga mansion in Miami that needs space for Giselle, her kids and four excited dogs, Lua, Scooby, Fluffy and Onyx.
Beagle Scooby joined the family in 2015 – but model Giselle initially had no idea.
Brady adopted the beagle after no one else picked him up from the shelter and brought the stranded pup home after an impromptu visit.
Fluffy followed a year later and is another rescue dog, this time from LA.
Gisele wrote on Instagram: “Thank you @wagsandwalks for everything you do and for letting us save this little angel. The children are over the moon with our new family member. Fluffy is pure joy.”
Christian McCaffery – Toy Goldendoodle
CMC definitely needs a cheer after spending much of the last two seasons on the treatment table.
The Panthers running back has followed Kelce in choosing a Goldendoodle – but has opted for a slightly more manageable breed.
The dog named Oliver Sprinkles is another Instagram star and features the dog posing in a range of outfits alongside McCaffrey and his girlfriend Olivia Culpo.
According to his bio, Oliver’s hobbies include “stomach rubbing and curling up in deer poop.”
The tiny pup, which is barely the size of CMC’s head, wrestles with the NFL star in a viral video posted by Olivia.
She captioned the clip: “Somebody’s excited to see their dad!!!”
