MOSCOW, April 13th. / TASS /. The Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov does not rule out the risk of Russia’s decoupling from the Western payment system, given the unfriendly attitude of a number of states towards the country, he told reporters on Tuesday.

“We can say for sure that, in one form or another, restrictions are being applied against Russia by a number of states seeking to contain Russia illegally and under international law,” he said. “These limitations come in a variety of forms, and it’s a pretty unpredictable process. Therefore, in the context of this process and with such unfriendly, sometimes even hostile behavior towards us, nothing can be ruled out, â€continued Peskov.

According to Peskov, the best way to insure against all risks is to create systems that can make up for the lack of a particular service and various forms of financial support. “That is, systems to strengthen sovereignty in all areas of the economy, banking, etc.,†he stated.

The Russian Mir payment system is already mature and will be rolled out around the world over time, Peskov added. “We see that this system has already gotten pretty strong. Yes, it has not yet spread internationally, but there are still countries where this system can be used. And now nobody doubts that this system will spread around the world at some point. ” he said.
